Toby Creek Greenway Phase II-Mecklenburg County

Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation received CMAQ funds through the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization to construct Phase II of the Toby Creek Greenway. The project extends the existing Toby Creek Greenway that runs through UNCC Campus. This new section of greenway parallels University City Blvd under Harris Blvd as an overland connector. The greenway then traverses under Chancellor Park Drive and along Toby Creek through a variety of vegetated areas, wildlife, steep terrain and rock formations at the creek banks.

The project includes approximately 1.3 total miles of trail construction consisting of 0.8 miles of asphalt trail, 0.2 miles of concrete trail, 0.3 miles of boardwalk construction, a prefabricated pedestrian bridge, and stream bank restoration along Toby Creek. AWCK was selected to provide the construction administration and inspection for the project providing assurance with NCDOT and FHWA standards for reimbursement to Mecklenburg County for construction.
