Woodale Hydraulic Study – Elon

The 37 acre watershed north of Woodale Drive in Elon, NC routinely produces flooding concerns along Woodale Drive. The watershed is a mix of residential and institutional development and feeds Elon University’s South Campus Pond. AWCK’s hydraulic study, from the summer of 2010, investigated how the watershed has changed over the last 20 years and the effects these changes have had on the lower levels of the watershed. The project involved mapping, modeling, and investigating alternative solutions within the watershed. Along with investigating several different sets of conditions, the study also made recommendations to the Town of Elon for solving the flooding issues on Woodale while limiting the impacts to the watershed’s streams, wetlands, and pond. The project involved discussions with Elon University, private landowners, and public officials.
