This position will primarily work on publicly funded projects in the Piedmont of North Carolina and will be located in our Burlington, NC office. The chosen candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day project management on several different civil engineering projects. You will supervise the execution of projects, oversee the design process, and coordinate with the design team and clients. You will have an opportunity to expand your portfolio by working on exciting, high-profile, and complex projects. In addition to working on a variety of projects, you will partner with the principal engineers to develop strategies for technical excellence, engagement, and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to create detailed drawings for civil engineering projects.
  • Complete engineering calculations for water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater projects.
  • Oversee capital projects for municipal clients and land development project for private clients from preliminary design to closeout.
  • Assist in development of water and sewer capital improvement projects for municipal clients.
  • Assist in funding and grant applications, including engineering reports.
  • Assist in cost estimation and project budgeting. Provide support to senior engineers for civil engineering staff as needed.
  • Complete design details and specifications for civil engineering projects.
  • Assist in the bidding, awarding, and managing of utility and land development projects.
  • Provide plan review of internal and external projects on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in civil/environmental or related field is required
  • 6-10 years experience in civil engineering
  • Professional Engineering License is required
  • Strong business acumen in project planning and management
  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Must be proficient in Autocad Civil3d or similar product

 This full-time position will work on projects in the Piedmont of North Carolina and will be located in our Kannapolis, NC office.  Under the direction of senior engineers, this team member will work alongside project engineers and technical staff to ensure successful completion of projects from start to finish. Candidate responsibilities will range from project management, drafting/design, to construction observation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to senior engineers and technical staff for civil engineering projects.
  • Complete engineering calculations for water, sanitary sewer, land development, transportation, and stormwater problems.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Software, and/or Bentley MicroStation to create detailed drawings for civil engineering projects.
  • Read and understand construction drawing plans and details. Assist in compiling design details and plan sets for bidding purposes.
  • Assist in preparation of cost estimates. Perform field observation, inspection, and data collection as needed.
  • Complete reports and memos in business-style writing.
  • Assist with funding applications and project exhibits for capital projects.
  • Create detailed drawings for civil engineering projects.
  • Review construction plans for compliance with State and local rules and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in civil/environmental engineering or related field is required.
  • 0-5 years experience in land development or water and sewer engineering.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Carlson Software is strongly preferred.
  • EI/PE or ability to obtain with a path toward obtaining a PE license.

*Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro is a plus.*
