Afton Village Traditional Neighborhood Development
Located in Concord, Afton Village is a traditional single family residential neighborhood. The project is designed with streets only as wide as needed for low-speed traffic that is part of an internal transportation network that also includes sidewalks, walking paths and bike lanes. Sidewalks line both sides of the neighborhood streets to encourage walking. Planting strips, located between the curb and sidewalk, creating shaded streets, promote walking and slower traffic. On street parking is not permitted, and alleys located behind the houses provide access to rear loaded garages. Houses are set close to the front property line and have traditional large front porches. AWCK provided the design for Phase 4 of the development which included the design of the internal street system and utilities.
