Westbrook Avenue Small Basin Study & Retrofit Analysis-Gibsonville

In an effort to reduce flooding within the 250 acre watershed, AWCK investigated minimizing regulated and non-regulated floodplains within the watershed for the Town of Gibsonville. AWCK used Hec-Ras and Hydraflow to evaluate the watershed’s flows, floodplains and storm drainage culverts and recommended several retrofits within the watershed to reduce flood impacts. The project included evaluating a new NCDOT bypass, impervious mapping of existing neighborhoods, and extensive BMP retrofit analysis. At the conclusion of the study, AWCK supervised retrofitting of an existing dry detention basin as the first step to effectively reducing flows within the watershed.
