Henton Subdivision Stream Restoration – Elon

AWCK worked with the Town of Elon, Elon University, and the Henton Owners Association to restore an urbanized stream that drains downtown Elon, including Elon University, and runs through the Henton Subdivision. The stream restoration, permitted through the Army Corps of Engineer’s Nationwide Permit 13 involved the restoration of 500 linear feet of streambanks through reshaping of the stream banks, planting of live stakes, and the use of coir matting. Additionally, in order to reduce the bank erosion the neighborhood agreed to allow the riparian buffer to grow. The project was completed in November 2010.
