Position Announcment – Stormwater Program Coordinator

Alley, Williams, Carmen, and King, Inc. is looking for a Stormwater Program Coordinator in our Burlington, NC office. The position will be responsible for providing stormwater education to the public and school age children in and around Alamance County, NC. The position will be responsible for continuing existing stormwater programs as well as creating additional outreach programs. With guidance from senior level engineers, this position will also assist with the implementation of Municipal NPDES Phase II Stormwater Programs. This will include the six (6) minimum control measures contained in Municipal NPDES Permits: Public Education and Outreach, Public Involvement and Participation, Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination, Construction Site Runoff Controls, Post Construction Site Runoff Controls, and Pollution Prevention and Good Housekeeping of Municipal Operations. Other associated water quality tasks may include implementation and program creation for water quality improvements of impaired streams, stream monitoring, proposals, and grant applications. Additional responsibilities may be added to the position dependent upon the employee’s ability and specific skill set. The Stormwater Program Coordinator will be expected to work individually and in a team environment.

Qualified candidates will possess a general knowledge of stormwater concepts and environmental education. Successful candidate will possess the ability to deliver public education programs to school age children and conduct a variety of interactive public events; be able to speak publicly and facilitate large groups with diverse interests; work independently; review information for accuracy and consistency; interpret regulations; and possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Position requires superb verbal and written communication skills to interact with a variety of individuals including co-workers, local government staff, general public, and elected officials. Position requires a BA/BS in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Education, or related field from an accredited 4-year institution. Candidate can distinguish themselves with a Master’s, a background in public education, and/or fluency in Spanish. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Valid NC driver’s license required.
